Moved to the mountains only 2 years ago from a big NC city. Thought this area near Asheville would be nice, but the people here are unkind and no one associates outside of their circles unless you are family or a mom going to school in the town, otherwise it is hard to make and keep friends. The jobs are limited because it is a seasonal/tourist area, and being that it is near Ashville, and tourists visit our town, you would think the hourly wages would be a little higher, but they are not. The town people are poor, and mostly everyone in town is on unemployment or they just don't want to work. I am thinking of moving to Tennessee, only a couple hours away, cause the economy is better and the cities give more opportunity for work. Read More

No Place Closer to Heaven - 4/22/2009
There is no town in the US that is more similar to a Thonas Kinkade painting than Black Mountain, NC.

You have to experience the magic of the mountains here to believe what a special place it is. The people, the lifestyle, the land...once you've visited...no place else will do.

My grown children and grandchildren feel the same way. Black Mountain enchants you...every single day!

"There's no place like Home"...it's ours and we love it dearly!!!
